The tiger for the Udihe people

An account of the role and the place of the tiger in Udihe culture. For Udihe, a tiger is the dog of God. He knows what everyone does and has the power to help good people or punish those who do evil.

Recording: Udihe videos were recorded by Maria Tolskaya, some with participation of Elena Perekhvalskaya, in 2006 in the village Krasnyy Yar and in 2011 in the village Agzu. A version of this text completed with a song recorded from the same consultant was published in Kazama (2007:64-65).
