The seven sisters

A traditional folktale about seven sisters who live together. One day, the eldest becomes silent. The six remaining sisters try every trick to make her laugh. When they finally succeed, they are shocked to find human hair between her grinning teeth. Persuaded she has become an evil spirit, the sisters flee and start an epic journey.

Recording: Udihe videos were recorded by Maria Tolskaya, some with participation of Elena Perekhvalskaya, in 2006 in the village Krasnyy Yar and in 2011 in the village Agzu. Recorded in 2006. Aleksandr Pionka was present during the recording session and made some additions to the text.
