She covered him with the deer skin. This was in winter, there had been a lot of snow, but the snow was already about to melt; she cut down a round tree as thick as that, then she made something like a coffin and nailed the lid shut with an axe.

After the recording session, the narrator added one more sentence: ic'a mo: duelini tukäzamie ‘I will run on top of small trees’. This is a standard motif in Udihe folk songs.

There was a big rock near them, smooth like grass. There were no trees on it, nothing.
Рядом с ними – большая скала, гладкая, как трава, ни деревьев нет на ней, ничего.
The Russian expression всё равно ‘all the same’ here means ‘like’ and is used instead of the Udihe postposition "bede."
