According to Nadezhda Kukchenko, the rock was stinky because the weasel is stinky. The weasel (Mustela Sibirica) has special glands near its tail, which it uses when angry or frightened. These glands produce a very strong liquid scent for marking territories and food caches, attracting mates and deterring predators.
