There were demons that made war. There was a big village, there was a big town, they ate up all the people. Everybody perished, one boy stayed in the corner of a house. One boy stayed, he lived in the town for a long time, for a short time. He saw no demons after he stayed, he saw no spirits. He lived, lived, grew up to be a man, grew up to be a hunter and a fisher. He lived in the forest and the abandoned town. He hunted and fished. Once while he was going through the woods, little pieces of something ell on his shoulders. He did not care. He took his cap off. He did not care. He went on.

Suddenly he saw that people were there leaping up. They were reaching up for the ring. He saw that nobody could jump. On that old horse, he gave it a thump on its haunch and reached the ring. He put the ring on his finger and left. Then the others said: “What kind of a horse was that? Our horses didn’t get up that high, but he reached it on that bad mare.” But his brothers did not recognise him. Whose horse it was, who knows? He came home. He did not go to his bride. He came home straight away.
