Fine. He waited, he sat there, he went out and came back in. All of a sudden he heard something. From outside one could hear a man coming on skis. A young man entered the house. His belt was hung with animals, he had killed so many. “Oh, grandfather,” he said. “You’ve come, greetings!” “Greetings.” They greeted each other, had something to eat and the hunter skinned his animals and hung up their skins. They ate and drank. He lay down. The old man pretended to sleep. He thought: “He killed animals all day long, he was hunting, he has fallen asleep and is snoring.” The old man thought: “If I were to kill this young hunter, these animal skins would remain for me. I would take them home to my wife. I will bring so many skins, my wife will have good words for me.”

So, fine. Be that as it may, there were still things to do. They went back on the old path. Their flesh, all that had fallen off before while they were underway, came back. They became whole humans once again. The grandmother’s grandson had gotten further, he was no longer visible. What had fallen off the town hero’s son also became whole again, skis appeared, he was on skis. The grandmother’s grandson was lost to view. He must have gone far. The town hero’s son ran along the path, he went along. He did not know, where his land remained. If he did not run along this path, where would he come to? Oh, all of a sudden the town hero’s son came out to a glade. He saw that in the middle of the glade some sort of a house was standing. He went up to it, he rushed along the ski path, he arrived. Behind the house a larch tree was standing. The man arriving before him had hung his skis and bow on the larch branches. He also hung up his skis, he took them and hung them up on the larch. The grandmother’s grandson had not hung his up before, he had put them below on the ground.

There lived an elder brother and a younger brother. The elder brother was rich, had a wife, had a hundred horses. The younger brother had no wife. He lived alone in a house. He was poor. His aunt was poor, they lived together. They had one horse, only one horse. That is how they lived and after a long or a short time the younger brother’s horse sickened and died. The horse died, he remained with nothing. The horse died, what can you do? He skinned it, took it and hung it on a cross-beam to dry. He thought: “I’ll go to my brother’s and ask for a horse for transporting water, for transporting fire-wood. Maybe he’ll give me one. He’s got a hundred horses.”
