They went on further. They passed on, went for another bad day and came across a herd again. A herd of sheep. “Whose herd is this?” “This is the herd of the snake and old man mammoth.” “Don’t say that. War is coming from behind. War will come tomorrow to you, too. If they ask you whose herd it is, say the following. Say: This is the herd of old man fox and old man bull. Aha. If this is the herd of the snake and the old mammoth, they will kill you all and take your herd.” They skinned two or three sheep and loaded them on the sled. Lots of meat to eat. Fine. They set off again. They went one bad day again. The next day they found a herd again. It was also guarded by people, shepherds. “Whose herd is this?” asked the old fox. “It’s the herd of the snake and old man mammoth.” “Oh, don’t say that. War is coming from behind. Tomorrow it will come here. The man from the rich city will come with war to the snake and old man mammoth. He will come and you will say when he asks whose herd this is, say that it’s the herd of old man bull and old man fox.”
