Night fell and the demon ate well. The old woman said: “What should I do, I’ll turn you back into humans.” She turned them back into humans and the demon said: “Oh, I’ll eat these lads now. But they’re awfully skinny; let them live a bit still, let them put on some flesh.” The demon lay down to sleep. Morning broke, he went out hunting again. Mitkhui and Melesnik stayed with the old woman. The old woman said: “Every evening the demon lets the horse outside. The horse shines like the sun, like the sun is how the horse shines. When it goes out, it turns light outside.”

Fine. He lay down. The old man fell asleep. Then in the morning the young hunter woke him: “Grandfather, get up, we’ll have tea.” Oh, how shameful, he put out his face and the other was alive again, he had no scar at all. He was completely whole again. They drank tea. “You then, grandfather, prepare fire-wood and water. I, in turn,” he said, “will go hunting again.” So he set off, let him go, he went the whole day. He left in the morning and returned in the evening when it was getting dark. The other had prepared firewood and melted water. Everything was ready by the time the grandson came back. Towards evening he came back for the third time. He was carrying even more than the day before. He had killed animals, was carrying so much. They were hanging from his belt, it was all full. He carried them on his shoulders, however many animals there were–sable, squirrel. Once again they ate, drank, and the young man skinned the animals and hung them up to dry. Once again they went to bed.
