Fine. They went back, the man’s lost flesh grew back and he disappeared. He was lost. He, the grandmother’s grandson, flew along the path all alone. His flesh grew back, his head and shoulders grew back. His legs and arms became whole again, while he was walking, he had his skis on again. So he went on. The other one had disappeared, who saw where he had gone. He flew along the path. After a long or a short time he suddenly came to a clearing. In the middle of the clearing he could see a house standing. This is where the path of the man going ahead led. He flew along the path, flew along it. He came there, it was a big, wooden house. It was a wooden house, and behind the wooden house there was a larch tree. The man going ahead had hung his skis on the larch. He had hung them up, and he also took off his skis, but did not hang them up. He went and put them on the ground.

There lived an old man with an old woman, an old man with an old woman. Both of them were old, as old as each other, they had nobody. The old man thought: “If I were to go out to a place a bit higher, where fire-wood is found, (Behind their house there was a clearing) to the clearing. I’ll check what kind of animals go there, the traces of which animals are there.” He put on his skis and went out of the house up to the clearing. Along the edge of the clearing, along the edge of the forest he skied, his skis went this way and that. What was he up to? He went along the ski path, rushed on further. Sooner or later he reached a sort of a wooden house. It was apparently the house of a hunter. He went into the house, nobody was there, an empty house. Inside the house everything was hung over with skins: sables, animals. Whatever kinds of animal skins there are, it was full of them.
